Finding and photographing old, unique, and
unusual barns is a hobby enjoyed by many. Barns of
particular interest at this site include: Ohio
Bicentennial barns, round
and polygonal barns, and barns with specific
advertising painted on them, such as the Mail
Pouch barns. Old Mail Pouch signs on buildings
are also displayed at this site. The section on
Mail Pouch barns contains barns & signs with
all types of old tobacco advertising.
This site has been developed with the purpose of
sharing information on where these structures exist
and to provide a photographic catalog of these
barns, signs and other structures.
While the site is titled Ohio Barns, pictures
and locations throughout the Midwest are cataloged
on this web page. Ohio is the premier state for
finding these types of structures. Ohio has
hundreds of Mail Pouch barns and this is the only
state with official state logo barns.
Several states have more round and polygonal
barns than Ohio. This sites identifies about 70
Ohio round-type barns to date. Indiana probably has
the most with Iowa, Wisconsin, and Illinois
providing large numbers of round barns.
Numerous other type of barns can be found at the
Ohio Barns web site, including: Rock
City barns, artistic
barns, barns with roof
art and designs, religious
themes, patriotic
themes, plus much more. Some non barn sites are
also featured such as: covered
bridges, old
water mills, castles,
unique water
towers, and an assorted group of miscellaneous
and unusual structures.
