Location:

At the Cabrillo National Monument. From San Diego Airport, head west on Harbor Drive to Rosecrans Street (Hwy 209) turn left on Rosecrans and follow the signs to Cabrillo National Monument. The lighthouse is high atop a bluff with a fantastic view of San Diego.

Notes:

It was built in 1854 but was actually in service in November of 1855. It was restored in the 1980's. This bluff put it at 462 feet about sea level and made it the highest lighthouse in the U.S.
